Cold is coming

Weather: Forecasts changing by the hour

Trail Conditions: Some very good, some bad, some very bad

Watch for a hole in trail 3 1.5 miles north of trail 8.

Christmas hours

Christmas eve Noon to 10pm,

Christmas Day 2pm to10pm

The forecast for next week is showing a lot less snow than originally predicted. But the temps are dropping off next week, which is what we really need the most. The next few days temps are going to be above freezing for a couple of days, but there are not many riders up so I think conditions will stay the same until later in the week when snow and cold is settling in. After Christmas week is too far off to guess what we may be in for. Hopefully the winds blow a big storm right back towards Bergland.

P.S. Eric, it is only 8:45am

Vern works hard at the Phone Company but spends
two nights each week bowling, and plays golf every
Saturday.

His wife thinks he’s pushing himself too hard,
so for his birthday she takes him to a local
strip club.

The doorman at the club greets them and says,
“Hey, Vern! How ya doing?”

His wife is puzzled and asks if he’s been to
this club before.

“Oh no,” says Vern. “He’s in my bowling league .”

When they are seated, a waitress asks Vern
if he’d like his usual and brings over a Budweiser.

His wife is becoming increasingly uncomfortable
and says, “How did she know that you drink Budweiser?”

“I recognize her, she’s the waitress from the golf club.
I always have a Bud at the end of the 1st nine, honey.”

A stripper then comes over to their table, throws her
arms around Vern, starts to rub herself all
over him and says…
“Hi Vern. Want your usual table dance, big boy?”

Vern’s wife, now furious,

grabs her purse and
storms out of the club.

Vern follows and spots her getting into a cab.
Before she can slam the door, he jumps in
beside her.

Vern tries desperately to explain how the stripper
must have mistaken him for someone else,
but his wife is having none of it.

She is screaming at him at the top of her lungs,
calling him every 4 letter word in the book..

The cabby turns around and says,

‘Geez Vern, you picked up a real bitch this time.’

VERN’S FUNERAL WILL BE HELD
THIS COMING FRIDAY.

Better than I thought

Christmas hours

Christmas eve Noon to 10pm,

Christmas Day 2pm to10pm

The forecasts are all over the place. Who knows what the hell is going to happen next week. I think I am going to quit guessing what trail conditions are out there.  I thought they would not be too good, some were not, but most of the riders headed east then north or south and ran into very good conditions. Not too many sleds around so that helped conditions stay pretty good too. I usually report worse conditions than what they really are as most of you know that have been following me for a while, such was this weekend so far. Stay tuned, Christmas looks promising….

Just another Friday night at the bar.

Cold will help

Weather: Cold this morning (finally)

Trail Conditions: Some good, some bad, some real bad

Watch for a hole in trail 3 1.5 miles north of trail 8.

The forecast looks pretty good. A little warm up coming this weekend and the first part of next week, and then……..well we can only hope at this point what the forecasts are saying will come true. Right now there is a lot of snow predicted for next week. If it comes it will be good and bad, but mostly good. Some wet areas will benefit as they can use snow to fill in wet spots, others it may hinder freezing up the wet areas. You’ll need to use caution when riding out there, you never know what may be around the next corner. Be careful out there, we want you back later in the year.

Everyone has heard of Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer. But have you heard of Rudolf the Brown Nose Reindeer? He is the one that didn’t stop as fast as the other Reindeer.

Use Caution when riding out there

Use caution and be careful when riding out there. A couple guys told be there is a very dangerous hole on trail 3 1.5 miles north of trail 8. They said it was 4 feet deep and in a place where someone could get hurt. It is early season and there can be a lot of hazards out there.

Good, Bad and the Ugly again

Weather: Close to a foot of new snow

Trail Conditions: Kind of like opening day

I’m not sure how to start on the trail report today. I had two guys in yesterday (sorry I didn’t get their names) from Illinois who rode 160 miles. I gave them a ride back to the west shore to get their trailer last night so they didn’t have to use trail 1. They are going to trailer to Bergland today to ride. They were happy with what they road from Bergland east. Very little was groomed but they said they were first on the trail most places and had a great time. I guess that is the Good.

The groomers went up 102 yesterday, they told me to tell riders to wear wet suits and install pontoons before heading up 102. I asked if there was a lot of water and their response was “water? There are waterfalls on 102”. So I guess that is the Bad and maybe the Ugly too.

So I know some of you are coming this weekend no matter how much we tell you not to, so I guess all I can do is point you in the right direction. Our club is down to only 3 groomers right now, and they are going to finish busting open 13 north using both groomers first probably. 1 North to White Pine, 8 east and trail 13 are probably the only trails our club are going to be able to groom until we get a major cold snap.

This weekends forecast looks to being another warm up, not as bad as last weekend, in the low 30’s for now. Next week looks like a major snow storm might be moving in, not the cold we actually need, but we will take what they throw t us I guess, like we have a choice.

Your best place to stay around Lake Gogebic this weekend is going to be in Town or the Root, Trail 1 on the west shore is shit and I would not trust the Lake.

Your best riding will probably be east of Bergland and then north and south. Say hi to Jane for me if you stop out at Hoppys and have a Sloppy Hoppy.

GOT SNOW, more on the way

Weather: 8+ I think

Trail Conditions: They have snow again

I can’t say for sure how much snow fell out there, I am guessing 8-10 looking at Porky out my window. The thermometer is off about 15 degrees so pay it no mind. We are below freezing. John Dee’s forecast looks like Santa may answer all our prayers. This is not going to help the wet areas, but it will put snow out on the trails so they can get back to grooming the dry trails.

5-10

9 days till Christmas

Weather: 6-10 today and tomorrow

Trail Conditions: Now we got a chance

What a difference a day makes. 6-10″ according to NWS over today and tomorrow. Temps are high 20’s and colder at night. Don’t expect miracles overnight, but we are on the road to recovery. One day at a time. Shit, sounds like an AA meeting. We got a ways to go, but we are off to a good start. AGAIN

I hoping for a Yooper Super Bowl Party December 28 between the Packers and the Lions, hopefully both teams win next week so it will be a winner take all for the tittle.

New Years Eve fireworks again this year at the bar.  Hopefully it will be a bit warmer than -20 at midnight like it was last year.

A group of softball players, all in their 40’s, discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Hooters because the waitresses were young, good looking, had big breasts and wore short-shorts.

Ten years later, at age 50, the
softball buddies once again discussed where they should meet
for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at
Hooters because the food and service was good, they had many
televisions to watch the games on, and the beer selection
was excellent.

Ten years later, at age 60, the
team again discussed where they should meet for lunch.
Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Hooters
because there was plenty of parking, they could dine in
peace, and it was good value for the money.

Ten years later, at age 70, they
discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was
agreed that they would meet at Hooters because the
restaurant was wheelchair accessible and had a toilet for
the disabled.

Ten years later, at age 80, the
friends discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally
it was agreed that they would meet at
  Hooters
because they had never been there
before..

Come on snow

33 degrees outside at the moment. A few more and we should have snow coming down again. Forecasts look promising, possible 3-8 or maybe more. It’s a start.

Yooper Super Bowl Sunday December 28th

Weather: Rain Monday, Snow Tuesday

Trail Conditions: Not Good

November 15th I was having my roof shoveled off, December 15th I am putting on my speedo and going for a walk around the block. This year started out too promising, we were even complaining that we had too much snow.  And now, 46 degrees and what looks like ice skating rinks as far as the eye can see. Colder and snow on the way this week, but not enough of either. But we’ll see maybe, just maybe the weather will take a drastic turn here real quick.

On a brighter note, I’m sure everyone was not too happy with the results of yesterday’s football games, but I was.  Not that I was really hoping the Packers would loose, but I sure would like to see Greenbay and Detroit tied for the last regular game of the season. It will be like a Yooper Super Bowl. We may just have to have a party at the bar.

No Good, let’s see what next week brings us.

Weather: Rain Monday, Snow Tuesday

Trail Conditions: Not Good

Talked to snowmobilers in the bar today.  Trails are shit, need cold and snow
